Welcome to our website!

Hello, I am Ken Hoak, President and Museum curator for the Conestoga Area Historical Society.

During this last weekend we opened our 2008 exhibit.

"Life in the Manor"

Manor Township distinguishes itself at being the largest  (Land Mass) township in Lancaster County.  Its human inhabitation date to the 15th century Native American settlements in the Millersville and Washington Boro areas.  Early French explorers entered the area in the early 17th century.  William Penn also visited the Indian "towns".  Manor became a true township in 1759 - being separated from Hempfield.  It was settled mainly by the Germanic and baptist immigrant farmers.

For the most part the exhibit reflects Manor Township's strong agrarian heritage.  This " PA German Plain" influence lasted into the early 20th century.

Today the township is a meeting ground between some of Lancaster County's richest farm land and the urban development of neighboring Lancaster City and Township.

Please come a visit our new exhibit open from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday's and Sundays until mid December. You won't be disappointed!

Happy Historing,

Ken Hoak
